Information: Romanian is originating from the Latin spoken in the old Roman province of Dacia (present-day Romania). The earliest written Romanian text dates back to 1521. Romanian has kept some Latin features that have disappeared in other Romance languages, e.g. the declination of nouns. Just as in non-Romance Balkan languages, the article is placed behind the noun. Romanian has borrowed many words from Greek, Turkish, Hungarian and Albanian.
