Information: The language is almost extinct. Another name for Livic is Livonian, but this cannot be confused with one of the Latvian dialects that is also called Livonian.
Only a handful of people have Livic as their mother tongue. Over the past years it has experienced a small revival.
The Livic alphabet has over 30 letters, some of which are very difficult to pronounce. The language is officially recognized as an autochtonous Latvian language by law.
