Dorian
Language family: dialect of old Greek
Geographical use: originally spoken in northern Greece
Information: Extinct language. Dorian replaced the Arcado Cyprian dialect in the Peloponnesus and was also spoken in the southern Cyclades, on Crete and in the Greek colonies in Asia Minor, Sicily and Italy. Most poems by Theocritus (3rd century BC) were written in this dialect.
