Translation practice 1
Itzulpena (translation)
Pierre and Pascal are old friends. They are friends, yes, but
very different. Pierre is tall and has much strength, Pascale on the
other hand is small and has little strength. Pierre has no hair on his
head, Pascal on the other hand has long hair. Pierre is a serious man;
Pascal on the other hand (is) rather a little rascal.
Pascal wants to smoke but has no tabacco.
- Hello, friend! Do you have cigarettes? he asks Pierre.
Pierre has no cigarettes either.
- Sorry, Pascal -he says to himm- I have none either.
There they have some. Go and buy some.
Pascal has no money.
I cannot buy any -he says-, I don't have money either.
-How much do you want? his friend is asking him rather angrily.
- Only ten duro. That is enough. The packet of cigarettes does not cost
more, the other answers him.
Pierre gives the money to Pascal, but is unfriendly and tells him:
-Here, then, the money. Buyt the cigarettes and don't come here no more!
Pascal has gone to the tobacco store.
-What nerve! Pierre says.
Two minutes later our man is there again.
-What do you want now? Pierre asks him very angrily.
-Fire... -Pascal replies to him.
Pascal really has a nerve.
Translation practice 2
Little Red Riding Hood (LRRH) and het mother are in a house.
One day the mother says to LRRH:
- LRRH, today is your grandmother's birthday and you must give
presents. In this basquet I have put eggs, apples and a soft cake. You
need to go straight ahead without halting on the way.
- Good, mother. I will do that, LRRH says. En ze gaat het huis uit.
On the way she sees flowers and thinks: those flowers are pretty. I
will go and pick them and give them to grandmother. She will be happy.
And she collects flowers.
The the wolf appears. The wolf is very bad.
He asks LRRH.
- Where do you go to, LRRH?
- To the house of grandmother, she replies to him.
- Yes? And where does (your) grandmother live?
- Over there. In a small house there.
- Very good, the wolf says. And he goes into the forest.
Itzulpena (Part 2)
The wolf starts to run and arrives at grandmother's house.
Grandmother is in bed. The wolf knocks on the door and grandmother asks
from within the house:
- Who is there?
- LRRH, the wolf replies.
- Open the door and enter, grandmother tells him.
The wolf opens the door of the house, goes inside and eats the poor
grandmother. Afterwards he puts on the grandmother's clothes and gets
into bed.
LRRH arrives and knocks on the door.
- Who is there? the wolf asks from in bed.
- I am LRRH.
- Open the door and enter, the wolf tells her.
LRRH goes inside. She sees the wolf and believes it is grandmother.
But, she says to him:
- Grandmother, you have very big eyes!
- Then I can see you better! the wolf says to her.
- Grandmother, yuo have very large ears!
- Then I can hear you better!
- Grandmother, you have very big teeth!
- Then I can eat you better! the wolf replies to her.
